Since 3C Groups became the majority owner of Blue Ocean Robotics at the beginning of 2025, new strategic initiatives have been launched under the new ownership, paving the way for a promising future for the Funen-based robotics manufacturer.
Blue Ocean Robotics is now bringing in a prominent profile to lead this transformation, as Thomas Knudsen has been appointed as new CEO of Blue Ocean Robotics effective August 14. Thomas Knudsen brings over 25 years of experience in global sales and business development, most recently serving as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), part of the Teradyne Group.
25 years of commercial experience
Thomas Knudsen is a trained engineer and has since supplemented with a Graduate
Diploma in Marketing and an MBA in Technology Management. Prior to joining MiR in
2019, he held management positions at Semco Maritime and Danfoss, among others.
"I come to Blue Ocean Robotics with 25 years of commercial experience from global
companies, but at the same time with a great degree of humility. Blue Ocean Robotics
has some exciting, market-leading products. I look forward to, together with my new, skilled colleagues, to continue the growth of Blue Ocean Robotics," says Thomas Knudsen.
Thomas Knudsen replaces John Erland Østergaard, who has served as interim CEO since September 2024. John Erland Østergaard will continue at Blue Ocean Robotics with a technical focus.
"With Thomas, we get a visionary leader with commercial flair who will contribute to
unleashing Blue Ocean Robotics' potential. Thomas combines a commercial
background with many years of insight into the robotics industry and international
experience, and that is what is required to take Blue Ocean Robotics to the next level,"
says Chairman of the Board Søren Vilby.
